Heights are rounded to an even number, which most video codecs need.
How it works
Height = width × ratio height ÷ ratio width, rounded to an even number. For letterboxing, the picture height is the frame width ÷ the target ratio, and the rest of the frame height is split into two equal bars.

What size is an Instagram Reel?
1080 × 1920 pixels, which is the 9:16 ratio.
What resolution is 4K?
For video, 4K UHD is 3840 × 2160 pixels (16:9). Cinema DCI 4K is 4096 × 2160.
How big are the black bars for a 2.39:1 look in 4K?
In a 3840 × 2160 frame, a 2.39:1 picture is 3840 × 1606, so each bar is 277 pixels.
Should I add bars or change the sequence size?
For YouTube and TVs, keep a 16:9 sequence and add bars, so the video fills the player width. For a cinema-style master you can make the sequence itself 2.39:1.
